"The success of Yoga does not lie in the ability to perform postures but in how it positively changes the way we live our lives. When we are attentive to our actions we are not prisoners to our habits."
- T.K.V. Desikachar
Steph studied to become a yoga teacher in Portugal with The Sacred Fig; a comprehensive yoga school with faculty from all around the globe. Her training focused not only on the key aspects of anatomy, alignment, pranayama, mantra, meditation & yogic philosophy, but also dove into personal development, linguistics, Ayurveda, energetics & Thai massage.
“As a teacher, my hope more than anything is to allow for an experience. Yes, I guide the body & breath through movement but ultimately what happens for each student is so very personal."
"To me, the practice of yoga is a gateway to self-discovery. How we show up on our mat is often an indication of how we show up in our lives as well. Desikachar said, "The success of Yoga does not lie in the ability to perform postures but in how it positively changes the way we live our lives. When we are attentive to our actions we are not prisoners to our habits." When we become familiar with our habits and why they have formed, we are given the chance to change them for the better. Yoga allows the space to observe and rewire.”
Steph offers personalized yoga in a one on one setting. She loves to work with beginners & with those who are curious about the practice. She believes that your yoga practice shouldn't be so serious, just sincere. She takes a practical, open, lighthearted approach to her teaching. Apart from doing or teaching yoga, you can find her singing and playing the guitar, snowboarding, eating ramen or writing her book at various cafes around the Bow Valley.
